Kate Middleton’s Favourite Designer Bags

Kate Middleton’s favourite bags might just surprise you. Unlike the late Queen Elizabeth, the Princess Of Wales switches up the style of her bag quite a bit from clutches, tote bags, and top handle bags. Kate also has an array of designer names in her collection from renowned luxury fashion houses such as Alexander Mcqueen to London-based designers such as Aspinal Of London.

Although you may never see Kate Middleton wearing a Fuschia gemstone bag with bells, the Princess does share her flavourful personality through her bags by engaging with modern trends and well-known brands.

The bag itself can be worn crossbody or over the shoulder with its detachable matching leather strap or carried simply by its handle – like Kate Middleton wears it.

Whilst small, the bag can actually fit the essentials like a regular-sized phone, keys, cards, etc. The envelope flap is adorned with Demellier London signature golden detailed embellishment. The Duchess owns the Sicily bag in a muted pink pictured above. The Sicily comes with a detachable strap meaning it can be worn crossbody or over the shoulder as well as held by its top handle. The bag has a very traditional and simple flap and clasp which is adorned with a Dolce and Gabbana logo plaque. Understated and highly practical, the bag can fit all your essentials and more. Seen in the colour Marrakech the Mini Roma Suede Crossbody Bag from Métier London is another example of how Kate Middleton doesn’t always play it safe. The bag has an accordion silhouette and is made of supple Italian suede. The bag does come with a detachable strap but Kate opted to use the bag without. The most surprising element of the bag is the thick gold chain strap that falls to the front of the bag. In terms of traditional designs for a member of the royal family, the Mini Roma pushes boundaries. The bag feels very youthful and would look great with both casual and smart looks.

Princess of Wales visit Boston City Hall to start the countdown to The Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony on November 30, 2022 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Kate Middleton owns Mulberry‘s Small Amberley Satchel in the colour green. The colour is believed to be a favourite of the Duchess as she is seen in deep green outfits and accessories often. The colour is a rich and luxurious green, complimented by gold detailing and Mulberry’s embossed logo.

The bag is actually one of the few strap bags worn by Kate. Inspired by British countryside pursuits and equestrian styling it’s fitting that Kate, who was both raised in the countryside and a horse rider, would be drawn to it. The shape of the bag feels soft and casual compared to more structured silhouettes found in the Duchess’s bag collection. Mulberry’s iconic Postman’s Lock on the front modernises the bag. Whether you’re based in the countryside or the city, the Small Amberley Satchel is a perfect go-to for every day.

Created with soft grain leather externally and a Suede and Nappa lining the bag both looks and feels luxurious.

Kate Middleton Alexander McQueen

The Princess of Wales chose Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen’s current creative director to design her wedding dress. Since that special collaboration back in 2011 we have seen the princess wear custom McQueen fashion designs and a handful of Alexander McQueen bags.

As a worldwide global phenomenon, it’s unsurprising that the bags worn by the Princess have since sold out however you can, fortunately, find the designs on pre-loved websites such as eBay and Vestiaire Collective.

Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of SportsAid, attends the SportsBall, the charity’s annual gala dinner at Victoria Embankment Gardens on November 28, 2013 in London, England.

The clutch from Alexander McQueen has been worn by Kate Middleton on multiple occasions. The clutches are customised for the Duchess as you can imagine it may not be deemed appropriate for a member of the royal family to wear a clutch adorned with a skull or beetle. Often the clasps are replaced with jewels or a simple closure, however, the rest of the clutch’s design is kept true to the original.

The Beetle Box Clutch is an important bag in Kate’s collection as it has been worn and recycled over the course of 10 years. The Duchess was seen wearing the Alexander McQueen Bow Clutch in 2013 and a black suede version of the clutch in 2022!

The rounded shape of the clutch is very practical and flattering to hold, it also means you can fit your essentials inside. The clutch is an occasion bag and would make the perfect wedding guest bag.

Known around the world and adored by many, the Duchess has an incredible influence on many, so it’s unsurprising that the bags she is seen with quickly sell out.
