Real Vs Fake Neverfull Canvas
After handling Louis Vuitton bags for years, the canvas is normally the first thing that looks ‘off’ about a replica bag. The canvas of this replica Neverfull MM bag was shinier than the authentic version and really struggled to hold its own shape (the bag kept falling over). Replicas also struggle so replicate the monogram print, with authentic versions having a ‘brighter’ and more vibrant print.
One of the most obvious giveaways of a fake Louis Vuitton bag is the cut of the leather handles on a Neverfull. An authentic bag should have a teardrop-shaped piece of leather, with an embossed line running around the edge, the stitching to the inside of the line. Here you can see the replica bags handle shape isn’t on-point, and the red line isn’t as prominent or equal on both sides.
Next, lets take a closer look at the stitching on the handles. The embossed line on the handles is clearer and an equal distance from the edge of the strap on the authentic version, it however is faded on the replica. The stitching on the replica seems to zig zag, and the thread is a bright golden yellow.
Neverfull Leather Side Straps
The side straps in the Neverfull tote bag which enable you to pull the bag in if you wish can give away many clues to the authenticity of this designer tote bag. The leather should be supported by four clean stitches, and the gold round rivet should be perfectly center. The Louis Vuitton name should be embossed into the rivet clearly. The fake versions rivet instantly gave it away, it wasn’t central to the leather and the Louis Vuitton embossing wasn’t very clear.
Looking at the bottom of the side straps photographed below, the workmanship really isn’t great on the replica bag. The stitching has some major flaws, the authentic version has stitches that go around the leather, the fakes do not. The gold stud is also too large on the replica bag. An authentic bag’s stud should also have a flat back, whereas the fake version had a rounded stud both sides.
Neverfull Lining Real vs Fake Comparison
Now, let’s take a closer look at the lining of the real and fake LV neverfull bags. The authentic bag’s lining is a bright vivid pink (this colour will vary, depending on which neverfull canvas and print you choose), but the print is always perfectly clear. In contrast, the lining of the replica bag was bobbling, and the print was definitely not as bright. Take a closer look, and you’ll notice that the print doesn’t align correctly on the replica bag either.
TOP TIP: Invest in a luxury designer bag liner for your Louis Vuitton bag and protect your designer bags stunning interior from dirt and unwanted stains.
Louis Vuitton Hardware
Below is a close-up shot of the hardware inside both bags. This is the loop which the detachable pouch is often connected to, it’s meant for the detachable pouch and other things such as keys making them easier to find in your bag.
The replica here doesn’t even feature a line running around the leather and the embossing on the hardware isn’t as clear. It looks like it has been ‘etched’ into the metal, where the authentic logo should look clean, like one stamp.
The Louis Vuitton neverfull bag is an open tote bag, however, it does some with a small clip clasp which enables you to some-what close the bag slightly. On this replica you can see a clear difference between the hardware, including the part attaching to the leather tab being oval shaped which is incorrect and the logo on the gold clasp is too big and not clearly etched into the metal.
Louis Vuitton Made In Stamp Real Vs Fake Comparison
Here we have the ‘Louis Vuitton Paris made in France’ embossed into the leather tab under the Neverfull zipper compartment. You can see a big difference in stitching colour again. The embossing of the logo looks too deep on the replica neverfull.
Where to find Louis Vuitton Neverfull Date Code / Serial Code
Use our FREE Louis Vuitton date code checker to find out where your Louis Vuitton bag was made, as well as what year and week. Your date code does not make your bag authentic, as they can easily be faked, but they can be a clue to authenticating your Louis Vuitton bags. For example, if a code reads SP0029 – this means it was made in France on week 02 in the year 2009. The country the bag is made in should read the same as your ‘made in’ stamp.
The date code in your designer bag isn’t unique and is only a clue as to whether your bag is authentic or not. The Neverfull’s date code tab should be a small, rectangle leather tab located under the large pocket on the right hand side. The replica Neverfull’s date code was situated in this location, but the code wasn’t printed straight with the 9 much closer to the side of the leather tab than the SP. The font on the replica and size of the numbers are also incorrect.
Fake Vs Real Louis Vuitton Neverfull Zipper Compartment Comparison
The inside pouch of the neverfull has a large zip and the zip material should generally match the same colour as the lining of the neverfull. On the replica version of the bag, the zipper is a light pink and doesn’t match the proper pink of the lining, where as the authentic one does.
The dimensions of the fake designer LV neverfull were slightly smaller than the authentic version. The Neverfull MM should have dimensions of 31 cm in length x 28.5 cm height x 17 cm in width.
Whilst the stitching on the authentic Neverfull bag isn’t perfect in various areas, it looks significantly better than the fakes stitching. The main giveaway of a fake bag is the colour of the stitching, and also the thickness of the thread. Trained specialists who authentic designer bags will closely examine the stitching and thread on a bag before giving their verdict.
Packaging and Dustbag
The packaging and dust bag can help you to identify a fake Louis Vuitton bag, however, it should not be used as a lone identified to authenticate a Louis Vuitton bag as authentic packaging can always be purchased.
These two particular Louis Vuitton bags did not come with packaging, but see our other video comparing a real vs fake Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Mini backpack, and in this video you can see the differences in packaging.
Neverfull Tote Bag Structure
The structure of the Louis Vuitton neverfull bag is fairly straight forward, however, the bag should support itself and be able to stand up properly when placed down. One of the main issues with the replica version of this bag was its constant sagging and inability to hold itself up.
Bottom of the bag / Base
Looking at the bottom / base of the real and fake neverfull bags they look fairly similar, however, the main give away was that the authentic version features canvas that ‘rolls out wards’ from the bag, where the fake version just sat completely flat.
Side and Pattern Comparison
The side pattern on a Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag, no matter if it’s a monogram or damier ebene or damier azur canvas, the colour and pattern of the print should match up. Whilst the matching won’t be perfect, you’ll never see the wrong colour or a different part of the print.
